“You Can Do More That Matters” Book Launch

I recently had the pleasure of hosting a book launch party for family, friends, and clients to mark the publication of a new book I co-authored with my good friend and colleague Greg Hammond, You Can Do More That Matters.  We gathered at my alma mater, Bryant University, to read book excerpts, sign personal copies, and celebrate the culmination of a long-held dream.

If the book title sounds familiar, it’s because the inspiration contained in that phrase has been deeply embedded in my work and world view for a number of years. Those words also have a prominent place in Wealth Impact Partner’s branding and website, as we made these into our tag line several years ago because they so clearly communicate the essence and heart of our work. We encourage and empower people to find the clarity and confidence they need to “do more that matters” as they plan a secure future for themselves, meet the needs of their family, and discover the capacity to support the causes and organizations that matter most to them.

The opportunity to write a book that explains our unique approach to life and legacy planning began when Greg approached me at a professional conference, after recognizing that our individual approaches to wealth management and financial and estate planning were both non-traditional and highly complimentary.  Greg’s investment advisory firm has three locations in Connecticut. We were grateful to have Greg join us at the recent Bryant book launch party, and I was privileged to attend the book launch party he hosted in Hartford at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.

Writing and producing the book – including an audio version that Greg and I personally recorded with the able help of an audio engineer and voice coach – took more than a year. But we believe the time and effort we invested has been well-spent.  It is both humbling and exciting to think that You Can Do More That Matters has the potential to unlock the excess wealth of an untold number of people we will never meet in support of charitable and philanthropic endeavors here in our local community and throughout the world.

One small measure of the power of the book was the response Greg and I received when we invited our guests to learn more about and support two organizations we care about deeply and pledged a donation match. At the Wealth Impact event, representatives from the San Miguel School in Providence, RI showed a moving video that told their compelling story, including the powerful and positive impact this small school has been making in the lives of urban middle school boys for the last 20 years. In Hartford, Greg invited his guests to support the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, which is also doing really terrific good for their local community. The response we received from those who attended these events was really amazing – and two great organizations gained new friends and community partners.

As we head into the holiday season and look ahead to a new year, I am reminded of how grateful I am for the family, friends, colleagues, clients, and circumstances that have shaped my life and enabled me to share my vision for “doing more that matters” with more people than I ever could have imagined.

Peace,

Ron Ware
